Nottingham's surface gallery is currently presenting a varied selection of artwork which is being displayed from the 2nd to the 16th of May. The volunteer lead exhibition, called Above/Below, encourages artists from around the city to engage in demonstrating their own pieces to gain a reputation. Heather Cockell, exhibition coordinator, believes that this year's variety of creativity has drastically transformed seeing a jump from nine studio artists the previous year, to a record 20 volunteers this year.

Helen Cockell, exhibition coordinator says: "We've not got 20 artists oppose to nine, so you can get hugely different stuff next to each other and everything stands out in its own way.
"The exhibition inspires people to have a go. I think it gives people the understanding that they can come and get involved no matter who they are and what level they are in their career."
